Cable & Deadpool - the comic equivalent of Martin & Lewis

Cable is the mutant savior of humanity. Deadpool is the smartass Merc With a Mouth. together, they're like oil and water, but somehow, they compliment each other, and even manage to find common ground.

Deadpool is hired by a cult-like One World Church to steal a designer virus that will turn the skin of everyone infected with it to the same color in an attempt to eradicate racism and bring unity to the world. Cable's out to destroy the virus because of its major side effect - it literally makes people melt like candle wax. the two men collide, with bullets flying, quips slinging, and brains exploding (well, it's usually just Deadpool's brain being telepathically blown out the back of his head by an annoyed Cable).

though the story is absurd at times (like the melting part), the story poses the possibility that even though it may sound nice, having a world where everyone looks the same may not be a good idea after all.

Grade 3-6-It's been 10 years since the queen defeated Rumpelstiltskin by speaking his name, but now he's back to demand repayment for all of the gold he spun for her so many years ago. If she does not oblige, he threatens to increase the pest population and make the kingdom's livestock and other assets disappear by multiplying with fractions. Rumpelstiltskin multiplies the king's nose by six and vows to do the same for the entire royal court, unless Peter, the queen's 10-year-old son, agrees to go with him to work off the debt. It's up to the young prince to take possession of the man's magical multiplying stick and learn how to use it in order to restore normalcy to the kingdom. Calvert has created an interesting vehicle for teaching children about the differences between multiplying with whole numbers and multiplying with fractions. While obviously an educational product, her presentation is creative. Unfortunately, the audience for this book is fairly specific, and, as such, is limited. Children who have not been exposed to these concepts will likely be confused by the math component of the story. In some areas, multiplication of fractions is not taught until the last years of elementary school, but the book's format is unlikely to appeal to them. It's unfortunate, because Calvert has written an enjoyable teaching tool, and Geehan's luminous and expressive paintings are perfect for this fairy-tale world.-Carol L. When character was multiplying by fractions, I worried the students would be confused, since we haven't studied that concept yet. Instead, they caught on to how it works and were guessing what he'd multiplied by before I could read it!

This is a really cute retelling of Rumpelstiltskin. I loved that the evil little guy comes around ten years later to demand more. Such a meanie. The math lesson is wonderful - I recommend this book for grade-school age children to enjoy.

I'm writing a novel, set in medieval England, and this book was a marvelous source of technical information. The rating would have been a full five stars had this book been a little less technical. But the good news: when I'm done, I'm sharing it with a man who does authentic metalwork, so it will never just sit on a shelf, gathering dust.

The Peacock Butterfly - Second Chances.

Recommend this book to anyone really as it has great universal appeal and covers the period from the 1990s including major events in the US most readers will relate to. It could be read as a stand alone but my reading enjoyment was enhanced by reading The Peacock Butterfly last year which followed the same family from 1950 - 1990.
I'm going to quote from my review of The Peacock Butterfly as the same comment applies -
"It was very well researched both in terms of location and historical accuracy. Important historical events were used as a back drop but this was a story about two families who were both ordinary and extra-ordinary, as all families are. They had their faults and strengths, doing their best to cope with the ups and downs, tragedies and accomplishments of modern living. Sometimes the family binds hurt, other times they sustained individuals in their struggles, in a very realistic way."
This book follows the younger generation and takes place primarily in Oxford and Venice in Europe and New York and Maine in the US. The families and their circle of close friends expands and contracts with births and deaths and in between there are highs, victories and love but also lows, disasters and heart break. There is a good sense of place and time through vibrant descriptions and the use of major events. Lamotte writes in a very simple style allowing her characters to tell their own story in a very engaging way. Each character is clearly defined and on finishing the book I felt like I was saying good bye to old friends.
Very enjoyable read.

This is an amazing sequel to The Peacock Butterfly. The author's descriptions and authenticity and attention to details is evident. I couldn't put the book down! Thank you for writing the second book---it was worth the wait!!!!

What a great story with a little bit of everything including drama and suspense and everything in-between.
A very interesting story that is extremely well written. It will capture your heart as you follow the plights
and lives of the familys in this story. This is a sequel to the authors first book The Peacock Butterfly and
just like the first one it brings all the characters to life. Although it is a sequel this is a good read on its own,
but I recommend reading the first one which will make this Redux story even more enjoyable. I promise like
me you will not want to put this book down until the end.

Everything the amateur pipe organ builder should know.

Although this book does not cover the organ revival of the 50's and 60's, it has much to offer the amateur organ builder. From simple ancient organ designs to the more famous organs such as the one at St. Bavos this book will cover much of it. The few things this book does not cover to a great extent is the voicing process, and recent technology (post 20's) but it offers enough to educate the already knowledgeable amateur, but not reccomended for someone that doesn't know a little about pipe organs.
